Sign up for the Swing Dance Project, Jersey Shore Swing's 4 week course on the fundamentals of Lindy Hop, the original swing dance. This course is intended for new dancers, experienced dancers who are new to Lindy Hop and experienced Lindy Hoppers who wish to focus on fundamentals.
The first session introduces the concepts that distinguish Lindy Hop from other partner dances. A rhythm dance at its core, you will learn how to move yourself and your partner across the floor with rhythm.
Is it 6 count? Is it 8 count? Ultimately, Lindy Hop is a 2 count dance, but the classic 6 and 8 count shapes embody the common language for communicating with our partner This session will explore common shapes we see on the dance floor.
Frankie Manning captivated a whole new generation of Lindy Hoppers with the moves every Lindy Hopper should have in their vocabulary. We will review some of his favorites which are our favorites as well.
Where it all began. Charleston is a direct ancestor of Lindy Hop and is still integral part of the dance. This course will cover the Charleston rhythm and footwork to add to your partner dancing.
