Join us for a Swingout Intensive Workshop offered by Jersey Shore Swing. This two week course will explore the signature step of Lindy Hop; the Swingout. These classes will cover techniques to advance your skill in executing this exciting move with rhythm and momentum. This course is intended for dancers who can comfortably execute the skills introduced in the pre-requisite Level 1 Foundation class* or for experienced Lindy Hoppers to fine tune their technique.

This workshop will prepare students for future workshops in Swingout variations which require a solid vanilla Swingout.

PARTNER IS NOT NECESSARY

The Swing Out is the signature step of Lindy Hop. While some would consider this “the basic” of Lindy Hop, there is nothing basic about it. This step, when executed well in its basic form is thrilling in itself, but is also the step from which Lindy improvisation springs. 

This class will introduce the elements of the swing out that will be the foundation of a lifelong exploration of the dance.   

So, now you are in open position, what do I do now? There is a plethora of answers, however, getting back to closed position is an eventuality. The classic Lindy Circle is a great choice. 

This class will solidify the elements of the swing out and how they   

Swing out from closed, Swing out from open, Swing out from open, circle to closed. Repeat.

Lindy Hoppers around the world recognize this sequence as the beginning of most Intermediate through Advanced classes in Lindy Hop.  

This class will combine the elements of the swing out and circle that will ultimately enable you to respond to “Give me 3 swing outs and a circle”.
